How we score your test
No secrets. Here is exactly how your answers become an estimated band — and how close our estimates are to students' real IELTS results.
How accurate are we?
We are collecting real results now.
When at least 10 students have shared their real IELTS score, we will publish how close our estimates were — good or bad.

Both have 40 questions, one mark each, marked automatically. Your raw score is converted to a band with the same kind of table IELTS publishes. Spelling counts, and answers over the word limit are marked wrong — just like the real test.

Writing
- Each task is marked on four criteria, 0–9: Task Achievement/Response, Coherence & Cohesion, Lexical Resource, Grammatical Range & Accuracy.
- Task 2 counts twice as much as Task 1.
- Under 150 / 250 words loses marks, as in IELTS.
- An experienced counsellor checks the mark before you see it.
Speaking
- Your recorded answers are marked on Fluency & Coherence, Lexical Resource, Grammar and Pronunciation, 0–9 each.
- A counsellor listens to your recordings; the band is the average of the four.
- No accent is needed — only clear, natural speech.
Your overall band
The average of the four skills, rounded to the nearest half band — .25 rounds up to .5 and .75 rounds up to the next whole band, as IELTS does. Example: 6.5 + 6.0 + 5.5 + 6.0 = 24 ÷ 4 = 6.0.
Please remember: this is an IELTS-style practice test written by Global Academia Connects. Your band is an estimate to guide your preparation, not an official IELTS result. Try the band calculator · See sample answers at each band
