A piece of clothing I wear constantly is a dark blue cotton panjabi that my mother had made for me by a local tailor about a year ago. It's quite plain, with just a bit of white embroidery around the collar and the buttons. She bought the fabric from New Market in Dhaka, and the tailor took my measurements, so it fits me perfectly, which is rare because ready-made clothes are often too long in the sleeves for me. I wear it most Fridays for prayers, to family gatherings and even to casual dinners with friends. It's become my default choice whenever I want to look a bit smart without being too formal. There are a few reasons I wear it so often. First of all, cotton is ideal for our hot, humid weather; it lets the air through and it's easy to wash. Secondly, the colour doesn't show stains easily, which is useful because I'm not the most careful eater. And finally, people always compliment it, which is nice for my confidence. I'm planning to pack it for Malaysia, since the climate there is similar, and it'll be good to have something that reminds me of home.
