The match I'd like to describe is a one-day cricket international between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, which I watched at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium in Mirpur about two years ago. I went with my uncle and two cousins, and it was my first time watching an international match in person. We queued for over an hour to get in, and the heat was intense, but once we found our seats, the atmosphere was incredible. Thousands of fans were waving flags and blowing plastic horns, and every time a Bangladeshi batsman hit a boundary, the whole stadium seemed to shake. The game was really close. Bangladesh needed about fifteen runs from the final over, and I remember standing up with everyone else, holding my breath at every ball. In the end we won with two balls to spare, and complete strangers were hugging each other and dancing in the stands. What made it memorable was the shared excitement. On television you see more detail, but you don't feel that energy. We got home very late, sunburnt and hoarse from shouting, but we talked about it for weeks afterwards. I'd love to watch a match in Malaysia one day, maybe football or badminton.
