Media & advertising vocabulary for IELTS

Twenty useful words and collocations for discussing news, social media, advertising and consumers.

Media and advertising questions often ask whether advertising should be controlled, how news affects people, or whether social media is replacing newspapers. These words help you discuss influence and responsibility clearly. Look at three adverts on your phone this week and describe their techniques using list words; real observation gives you stronger ideas.

Common mistake: writing "medias". Media is already plural in form; write the media is or the media are, and social media platforms, never medias.
